Swimming
Wise Choice Summer Camp believes that swimming and summers go hand in hand. It is important for campers to refresh in the swimming pool during the hot summer days. Safety is our number one priority when it comes to the swimming pool. Camp counselors are required to go into the pool and/or watch the campers from the edge of the pool. In addition to our camp staff, certified lifeguards are also assigned to oversee our designated area .
Please read the swimming rules and instructions for each camp location listed below.
FIU Campus
The FIU summer camp will swim at either the Tamiami Pool or at the Miami Springs Aquatic Center. Upon arrival, all campers will be given a test to verify that they can indeed swim on their own. The test is to swim half the length of the pool without any assistance or touching the floor. Campers that do not pass the test will be required to wear a life vest for the duration of the pool. No exceptions. Campers will be provided all the swim rules by the Tamiami and/or Miami Springs Aquatic Center lifeguards and they are expected to abide by all rules in order to participate.
UM Campus
The UM summer camp will swim at the University of Miami outdoor pool located at the University Center building. Upon arrival, campers will be given a test to verify that they can indeed swim on their own. The test is to swim half the length of the pool without any assistance or touching the floor.
